Handmade brown and green glazed ceramic cup, side view with handle

Earth Jewel

Mug, Brown, Green, 250 mL / 8.5 fl oz
$65.00

Made by local artist Jean, each piece is hand-thrown on the wheel and finished with food-safe glazes.

Whether as a personal treasure or a heartfelt gift, it is more than just tableware; it is a small work of art, made slowly and intentionally in Unionville, Ontario, Canada.

Food Safe Materials
All pieces are made with food-safe clay and glazes.

High Temperature Glaze

Why It's Special
Each piece undergoes two rounds of firing. The first, called a bisque firing, strengthens the clay while leaving it porous enough to absorb glaze. After glazing, the second firing at around 1,200°C vitrifies the clay, making it durable, non-absorbent, and entirely food safe.

No two cups are ever the same: each tells its own story through unique glaze flows and textures.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Are Mu's ceramics dishwasher safe?

Yes, our ceramics are dishwasher safe. However, for the best care and to extend their life, we recommend hand-washing. Dishwashers can sometimes jostle pieces around, which may cause chips or damage.

Are Mu's ceramics microwave safe?

No. Some of our glazes contain metal, which makes them unsuitable for use in the microwave.

How should I store my ceramics?

Because each piece is handmade, we suggest storing them thoughtfully:

  • Avoid stacking pieces directly on top of one another. Stacking can create pressure points and uneven weight distribution, which may lead to cracks, chips, or warping over time.

  • Whenever possible, place items side by side with enough space to prevent contact and scratching.

Gentle with Temperature

To keep your ceramics safe and beautiful:

  • Avoid sudden changes in temperature (thermal shock).

    • Don’t pour boiling water into a mug straight from the fridge.

    • Don’t put a hot mug into cold water.

  • Never place ceramics over an open flame or directly on a stovetop.
